Sanctuary is bracing for a tumultuous 2025 as Blizzard Entertainment has revealed its roadmap for Diablo IV, outlining a year packed with new content, system updates, and surprising collaborations. The "Age of Hatred" narrative, which began with Lilith's resurgence and continued with Mephisto's return in "Vessel of Hatred," is set to intensify, with Mephisto's influence spreading across the land through new seasonal themes and questlines.
The roadmap teases a series of significant updates, including the return of Belial, Lord of Lies, who will challenge players in an updated Lair Boss system alongside two bosses from "Vessel of Hatred." Nightmare Dungeons are also receiving a major overhaul, introducing new activities and interactions that allow players to dynamically increase dungeon intensity.
One of the most anticipated changes is the evolution of the Infernal Horde system, which will become more chaotic with increased player agency and advanced options between Infernal Waves. This update aims to provide a more dynamic and challenging experience for players engaging with this popular game mode.
Beyond the content updates, Blizzard is focusing on enhancing the player experience with several quality-of-life improvements. Notably, the long-requested keyboard and mouse support for consoles is slated for release, offering players greater control over their gameplay. Core system updates are also planned for the Battle Pass and Seasonal Journey, aiming to make these features more rewarding and engaging.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the roadmap is the announcement of two IP collaborations coming to Diablo IV in 2025. While details remain scarce, Blizzard has stated that these collaborations will meld the Diablo universe with other universes that "complement its dark themes." This cryptic announcement has sparked widespread speculation and excitement within the community.
